Airport to City Centre:

• Take S1 (S-Bahn/Schnell Bahn/ Fast Train) which goes straight to Hauptbahnof (Central Train Station) or Jungerfersteig (near the Rathaus/ Townhall).  See map here.
• You can just by the Großbereich Hamburg or Greater hamburg area Ticket.. which costs around 3 Euros for Single or there's a group day card for 5 people for around 11-ish Euros.
